What is Motor Insurance?
In Uganda, driving comes with unique risksfrom the unpredictable traffic of Kampala to the rugged terrains of the countryside. Motor insurance provides financial protection against physical damage or bodily injury resulting from traffic collisions and against liability that could also arise from incidents in a vehicle.
The Motor Third Party Insurance Act requires every vehicle on Ugandan roads to have at least Third Party cover. However, relying purely on Third Party leaves your own vehicle completely exposed to theft, fire, and collision damage.
What It Covers
Accidental Damage
Repairs for damage sustained in collisions, rollover, or malicious acts.
Third-Party Liability
Covers injury/death to pedestrians or passengers, and damage to other vehicles.
Theft & Hijacking
Total replacement or compensation if your vehicle is stolen and unrecovered.
Fire Damage
Protection against damage caused by accidental fire, lightning, or self-ignition.
Emergency Towing
Assistance to move your vehicle to an approved garage post-accident.
COMESA Yellow Card
Regional extension for those driving across East African borders (optional).
Who is this for?
Private Individuals: Protect your daily commuter or family SUV against Kampala's unpredictable roads.
Commercial Fleets (SMEs/Corporates): Ensure your delivery trucks, sales vehicles, or executive cars remain operational with minimal downtime after an incident.
Boda-Boda Operators: Specialized liability and asset protection for commercial motorcycle operations.

Frequently Asked Questions
While strictly legal, Third Party only covers damage you do to *others*. If you crash your car, you pay 100% of your repair bills. We strongly advise Comprehensive cover for vehicles manufactured within the last 15 years.
Ugandan local motor policies stop at the border by default. However, we can quickly endorse your policy with a COMESA Yellow Card extension before you travel, giving you regional third-party coverage.
"Loss of Use" is an optional add-on we can negotiate into your comprehensive policy, which provides a rental allowance while your car is being repaired.
For every year you do not make a claim against your comprehensive policy, you earn a discount on your next renewal premium. This can stack up to a maximum of 50-60% off over several years!
